This Romanesque chapel was the place of worship for the villages of Vivariu, E Muracciole, Gatti, Arca, and Giumellaccia until the 16th century, when the now-vanished church of Sainte Marie de l'Assomption de Vivariu was built. It remained the place of worship for the villages of E Muracciole and Arca until the 19th century. Like many churches in Corsica, it had its ark, a vaulted pit used as a collective grave in Corsica from the 15th century onwards. In 1776, a royal decree prohibited the burial of the dead in churches, but this practice would continue until the 19th century. Santa Maria d'Arca was classified as a "historic monument" in 1992.

Great suspension bridge with a fantastic view of the mountains. Be careful at the eastern end of the bridge, there is a large gap (2024/10).

This waterfall cannot be seen from the bridge, you have to scramble a bit in the river bed to get there. The water level (beginning of August 2023) was low enough, but you have to be sure-footed. But the effort is always worth it. And if you are brave, you can jump into the ice-cold water. An absolute highlight.

We did the hike a few years ago. There was no komoot then. In fact, you can't get lost. As far as we can remember, the most beautiful pools are above the Bergerie de Tolla, even with a natural slide.

Nice place for a refreshing cool down....

One of the most idyllic places on the entire GR 20 to take a break. Saucisse and Fromage are highly recommended.
