The place is called Taxim and is a very central place. There are many bus lines, the tram and the metro, so you can change trains here. Furthermore, you can walk from here via Istiklal Cadesi (about 2km shopping street) to Galata Tower. Previously, many peaceful demonstrations started from here.

The Taxim is a central place in Istanbul. It is a transport hub where you can change from the metro to one of the many buses, from there stroll along the almost 2km Istiklal Cadesi and shop or walk to the Galata Tower. On the Taxim the World Cup was broadcast on the video screen and it was the place of student riots.
