There is an easy dolmus bus from town right to the start of this - take the dolmus for Yolangibogaz - it’s the last stop.

It might not look like it but there is organised chaos to the boat moorings! Nearest the marina are privately owned mega yachts, saving on the extortionate Netsel marina fees by being just outside, then day trip boats, then dive boats, then the ridiculous tourist party boats (if you fancy a pirate ship or an Egyptian themed monstrosity, you’ll find it here).

Hard to miss in a prominent location, at the end of the main waterfront tourist section.

Perfect if you’re in the market for t-shirts or Turkish delight, but disappointingly plain architecturally.

I know this dude will have moved, but keep your eyes out for them. I had to Google as I was worried how he got here as apart from the road it was pretty steep on both sides, but apparently they are very good climbers!

Steps all the way, and a well marked start, make this an easy detour from the main trail.

Pic does not really show how huge (and slightly creepy) this cave is. I took this from the top of the steps but you can go right down into it.

There’s a comment above that the route is not easy and you need good shoes and to climb. This could be misleading - there is a good wide rough track which I ran up, then stone steps all the way to the cave. I did it easily in my trail running shoes, ok not flip flops maybe. It’s definitely not scrambling or climbing.

The Way to the top of the island is not easy to find. you have to have good shoes and some climbing skills, however you are rewarded with a good with over Marmaris and the Island.

The fort is an interesting destination for a family holiday, as the castle complex is also exciting for children. The old walls start directly above the harbor area and from the castle you can enjoy a beautiful view of the old town, the harbor and the Mediterranean coast. In 1522, Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent commissioned the construction of the castle and citadel. The occasion was his victory over Rhodes and it is said that Süleyman intended to build a fort that could still be seen from Rhodes, the defeated city. Nowadays the castle is open for tours. There is a historical museum inside the Marmaris Kalesi Castle. The opening times are from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Entry costs 3 euros.
