Kingscote is a charming little village nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds. It features a beautiful historic church, a number of quaint honey-coloured cottages, and a nearby woodland.

When entering from Kingscote, remember to turn off the main track and head down another less well-defined grassy track to enter the woods at a gate. If you reach a 5 bar gate on the main track you've gone too far. Turn back because continuing will lead you into a world of pain... I know from experience! The start of the track can be a little muddy in places, but improves progressively as you continue down the valley to end on pristine gravel towards the Horsley end. The climb in the opposite direction is a little tough, but eminently doable on a gravel bike in good conditions. The grassy slope at the end is a bit of a leg burner and would be nigh on impossible for all but the most rugged of bikes if there is any moisture whatsoever.

A delightful footpath through a very picturesque valley between Newington and Hunter's Hall at Kingscote.

A good bridleway that the farmer doesn't plough. Easily doable on an MTB.

I have now done the climb up to Bagpath and it is significantly harder than the other side. The road is a bit rough and gravelly, it's also a bit muddy at this time of year and quite steep, though still eminently doable and the difficulties don't last too long.

A little care needed if descending from the Bagpath (west) side. The climb out on the other side is a lovely steady gradient and not too difficult.

Great bridleway gravel track linking to Kingscote to Horsley. Suitable for MTB and gravel bikes (ideally 40mm tyres). Multi-use path so as ever be respectful of others.
