11월 12, 2025, Deciduous Woodland
The path does get a bit indistinct in places but this does mea you get to wander amongst some wonderful trees, which is what the Forest of Dean is all about.

This route follows the Offa's Dyke Path through the trees high above the river to begin with and descends with it to the river near the abbey.

4월 4, 2024, Offa's Dyke Path – Wye Valley Section
Small section along the Offas Dyke path. Right next to the historic Dyke. This section is absolutely stunning (in my view, at least!) The dyke is clearly visible (on your right, if you're coming down from the Devils Pulpit, and vice versa). It is within some absolutely stunning woodland, and you've got spectacular views of the wye valley nearby; not to mention the Devils Pulpit itself.

4월 4, 2024, View South Across the Wye Valley
Just a bit further along from the Devils Pulpit is this glorious view! You can see one of the Severn Bridges (Apologies, I forget which one is which!!) But, if you zoom in on my photo, you can see it. And, as always, the view is much better in real life; it's worth heading a bit further on from the Devils Pulpit just for this view, you're still within stunning woodland, it's just one of the most gorgeous settings. Then, heading back past the Devils Pulpit, you will end up on the Offa's Dyke Path, a particularly special section (in my opinion at least), because the Dyke is still clearly visible.

The Devil's Pulpit is a viewpoint and limestone rock jutting out from the cliffs high above the River Wye along the Offa's Dyke Footpath. It offers spectacular views over Tintern Abbey and the village of Tintern along the River Wye below and the walk is through stunning woodland following the ancient Offa's Dyke. Legend has it the devil preached to the monks below, tempting them to desert their order.

Lippets Grove Nature Reserve is a small area of ancient woodland on flat ground to the east of the River Wye. Lippets Grove lies just east of Offa's Dyke, and is worth a visit for the variety of woodland wildflowers found here.

4월 23, 2021, Devil's Pulpit View of Tintern Abbey
The Devil's Pulpit is a rocky limestone outcrop and scenic viewpoint located in the Forest of Dean District of Gloucestershire, England, within the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is known for its views across the River Wye to Tintern Abbey, which stands on the opposite bank in Monmouthshire, Wales. Access lies from the Offa's Dyke Path, and the site is close to the Offa's Dyke earthwork itself. It is possible to climb up onto the flat plateau of the rock, which can accommodate a few people. In the hollow behind the rock, lies an ancient yew tree, with its roots grown into and around a pile of stone. Legend holds that from here the devil would taunt the monks and occupants of Tintern Abbey below. Amazing day out for all the family.

3월 17, 2021, Parson's Allotment
Part of Forestry England's Tidenham Chase area of lowland heath, Parson's Allotment is a wonderful place to ramble around. Partially wooded, there are plenty of footpaths criss-crossing this piece of land and the Gloucestershire Way cuts through it as well. From here, head north into Poor's Allotment nature reserve or west to explore the cliffs and woods above the River Severn.

From Devil’s Pulpit, you're afforded a fantastic view over the ruins of Tintern Abbey, a gothic masterpiece founded in 1131 by Cistercian monks. According to legend, the Devil preached from this spot to tempt the monks to desert their order.
