Klausdorf is one of the oldest towns in the municipality of Am Mellensee. The town was probably founded in the 13th century and named after its founder, Nicholas. "Clausdorf" was first mentioned in a document in 1541. In the 14th and 15th centuries the town belonged to the Zossen lordship and was under the Lords of Torgow. After the Torgows died out (1478), the Brandenburg Elector Johann (Cicero) bought the Zossen dominion for 16,000 guilders in 1490, which thus became an electoral office. Thus the region around Klausdorf also belonged to the electoral office of Zossen. The place gained economic importance through numerous brickworks and lime kilns. A brickworks barn is mentioned as early as 1698 and in 1920 there were six brickworks here, which produced 56-57 million bricks a year. A prerequisite for industrial development was the existing infrastructure with the Notte Canal and the Royal Prussian Military Railway opened in 1875. All brickworks had a railway connection. At the beginning of the 19th century, numerous settlement and recreational properties were created (mainly for Berlin citizens). From 1907 the spelling of "Clausdorf" changed to Klausdorf. The weekend tourism that started again after the Second World War brought the place the title "State-recognized resort" from 1965. From the Klausdorf brickworks, the Hornemann brickworks continued to produce as a private company until 1960. The Fasskessel brickworks, originally Maass, became state-owned in 1948 and formed Plant I of the VEB brick combine Klausdorf. In 1953, the VEB took over the brickworks cooperative formed in 1950 from the F. Arndt brickworks as Plant II. In 1961 the brickworks combine was still producing around 19 million bricks. Remnants of this time, the brick streets, brick factory owners' villas and a still working brick factory and numerous clay pits still bear witness to this industry.
