🎨 The Stirnberg Fountain (often simply called the Market Fountain) is a fascinating work of art located right on Dorsten's market square, inviting visitors of all ages to explore. Created in 1986 by the Aachen sculptor Bonifatius Stirnberg, it is a classic example of his "hands-on art."

🏛️ The Old Town Hall in Dorsten is one of the city's most striking and historically significant buildings. It is located directly on the central market square (Markt 1) and, together with St. Agatha's Church, forms the historical heart of the old town.

🎭 Current Cultural Significance Following extensive renovations in 2004, the building is now operated as a "community center" by the sponsoring association Altes Rathaus Dorsten e.V. It is a vibrant venue for culture and community gatherings.

⛪ St. Agatha's Church is the main Catholic church in Dorsten's old town and looks back on almost 900 years of history. It is an impressive testament to the citizens' will to rebuild after the almost complete destruction of the city in 1945.

The old town hall is used, among other things, as a registry office.

In some places you can drive on the dike along the Lippe.

The Lippe floodplains are the largest nature reserve in the district of Recklinghausen, covering 2,200 hectares. The floodplain area was placed under protection in 1995 as part of the NRW floodplain program, and today the floodplain is largely used for agricultural purposes. As a typical lowland river, the Lippe still flows through the landscape in wide meanders. In many places in the floodplain areas, floodplain forests have been preserved. Old river arms, especially in Datteln and north of Marl, are characterized by fen forests, reed beds and sedge marshes. The agriculturally used part of the floodplain, with its numerous hedges, rows of trees and pollarded trees, offers an impressive example of the typical Münsterland park landscape. This diversely structured landscape is an ideal habitat for numerous plants and animals. Kingfishers, bitterns, nightingales and many other bird species, including the marsh harrier, find space here.
