You should definitely stop in Frose, especially since there are good connections between Aschersleben (only 10 km away) and the famous Harz towns of Wernigerode, Ilsenburg, and Goslar! --- There is also a bus route via Hoym to Quedlinburg, so you don't have to take the inconvenient train ride to Halberstadt (a huge detour!). Note: To avoid getting stuck in Hoym for two hours, you have to change buses exactly when you want. So press the stop button in the center of Hoym in good time! The train station already has a distinctly morbid charm, but the entire small town of Frose has even more of it. Here you can make some unusual and truly exciting discoveries! - Coming from the platform, it's best to walk a short distance to the right and into Thomas-Müntzer-Straße. The name is no coincidence, as none other than Thomas Müntzer was provost of the local collegiate church from 1516 to 1517, a highly interesting, purely Romanesque church. You can end the tour with a detour to Lake Froser See, or start it there, depending on your taste. To do so, turn left before the train station, cross the tracks, and walk about 300 meters along the road to the large parking lot. From there, turn right into the forest and reach the beautiful lake. The water and swimming quality are excellent. The grounds are spacious and offer many cozy nooks or places to lie down, as well as a primitive snack bar. However, someone might charge an entrance fee for the beach area.

Rest area with a view. Two benches, but sunny. Good cycling and hiking path. Unfortunately, you can't get close to the lake due to dense vegetation. It's also prohibited—it's a mining area.
