The new, quaint "tunnel toll machine" at the Doktorhofwegweg Tunnel in Mölln made me smile today. It's really great, very well thought out, and the witty "instructions" immediately put you in a good mood, and of course, you don't have to pay anything. 😂

Memorial for the fallen of the war of 1870/1871 The memorial was created on the initiative of the veterans' association as a "state war memorial", i.e. for all those who fell in the war of 1870/71 from the towns and municipalities of the Duchy of Lauenburg district. The unveiling ceremony took place on June 11, 1879, the day of the golden wedding anniversary of the German imperial couple. The original location was the construction yard. In 1939, the "state war memorial" was moved to Hohe Holz. The Hanseatic Monument in Hohen Holz was erected in 1865 by the Hanseatic Association. The day of the erection was chosen carefully: It was June 18, 1865, the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo / Belle Alliance. As early as 460 BC, there are references to a game with stone balls - a precursor to today's game of boules. However, the boules facility in the Mölln spa park is not that old. The track was inaugurated in 2011 when the Mölln spa park was renovated. The facility is open to the public free of charge during the park's opening hours. For the first section of the path along the mill ditch, just behind the mill pond, it is advisable to change to the right side of the stream (even for the short section). The path is simply a bit more natural here and even more beautiful, in my opinion 🙂

9월 14, 2023, Till Eulenspiegel Fountain, Mölln
To commemorate the 600th anniversary of Eulenspiegel's death, the Mölln sculptor Karlheinz Goedtke created the bronze figure of the jester in 1950 to crown the fountain next to Kirchberg. This popular depiction of the jester has become a symbol of the town. Goedtke also created the bronze relief of the poet George Bernard Shaw next to the fountain. Shaw was named an honorary Eulenspiegel by the town in 1950. However, he misunderstood Mölln's offer and declared himself an "honorary citizen," which the town council subsequently approved. People often meet at the Eulenspiegel fountain for a souvenir photo. The mischievous figure is particularly polished in two places – there's a reason for this: Anyone who rubs Till's thumb and toe simultaneously while making a wish will be lucky.
