A magnificent cathedral located on Republic Square in the center of Pilsen. Impressive altars, stunning paintings, and beautiful stained-glass windows. A place to pause and reflect. Also a great place to cool off in the sweltering heat.

The Great Synagogue of Pilsen – a building that remains silent, yet speaks more than many a preacher. Its domes bear not only beauty, but also memory. Since 1893, it has stood there, red, serene, with a dignity that speaks both of splendor and suffering. Oriental, neo-Gothic, Jewish – and yet quintessentially Pilsen. It is one of the largest synagogues in the world. Within, the light whispers, as if it knows what has been lost. And outside, life passes by, reverently, sometimes carelessly. Yet it remains.

A truly beautiful and very large synagogue. Beautifully restored. Very quiet. Something different from the many churches. Definitely worth seeing.

It's a beautiful theater that's definitely worth a visit. We saw the opera Iris there, and it was a truly impressive performance. The ensemble stages the piece superbly, bringing the narrative to life. The set is very dynamic and carries the performance with perfect lighting. The costumes are also very beautiful and fit the story perfectly. The orchestra was also outstanding, as it had been on our other visits.

A Baroque church with a two-towered façade by Jakub Auguston, now "borrowed" from the Orthodox Church, resulting in golden icons standing among Baroque statues and a wall separating the church from the altar. Next to it is the Dominican monastery.

Saint Anne is the mother of the Mother of God Mary, and thus the grandmother of Jesus Christ - not attested in the biblical texts. However, she is mentioned in apocryphal writings (i.e. not included in the canon of the Bible), for example in the so-called "Protoevangelium of James". There is no historically confirmed knowledge about the life of Anne, but there are numerous traditional stories, which are summarized, for example, in the medieval "Legenda Aurea" by the Dominican monk Jacobus de Voragine. Among other things, she is the patron saint of the Anne Church in Düren (DE / North Rhine-Westphalia), where a piece of her skullcap is kept as a relic. In the church calendar, Saint Anne is commemorated - together with her husband Joachim - on July 26th.
