The Catholic parish church of St. Hippolytus is an impressive religious building on the town square of Zell am See. Architectural elements from several centuries and styles, such as Gothic and Late Gothic, characterize the overall appearance of this historic three-aisled basilica. At the Catholic parish church of St. Hippolytus, you can embark on a journey through time in the world of sacred architecture. This church on the town square of Zell am See is one of the most venerable churches in the Pinzgau region and has its roots in the 10th century. Only the crypt remains of the Ottonian hall church from that period. The current structure, a three-aisled basilica, was expanded in the Gothic style up until the 13th century. The imposing west tower and the west gallery are impressive examples of Late Gothic architecture. Inside, you will find neo-Gothic altars and beautifully crafted stained-glass windows.
