Beautiful view over the Western Scheldt and near restaurant Beet at the harbor of the Griette

Stairs at the Griette offer a beautiful view of the harbor. Here, at the harbor, you'll find the restaurant Beet, where you can enjoy delicious food and drinks and a lovely view of the harbor and the Western Scheldt. The restaurant opens from 11:00 AM. Also down below, near the village of Griette, is a lovely café/restaurant where you can also enjoy a delicious meal.

Beautiful view over the Westerschelde. Enough benches along the way to make a stop.

Fort Rammekens dates back to 1547 and is the oldest sea fort in Europe. It can be visited for €6.

In the middle of the water stands a red, illuminated ship. The sign says it belongs to the Flying Dutchman.

The white mural depicts the residents and their lives. The sea creatures represent fishmongers. The pigeons represent a racing pigeon fancier. The bottle of liquor represents the custom of serving liquor to neighbors in the home of a newborn child. The toilet building suggests that there was once a rather disreputable latrine in the alley. The caravan owner also lived there. And the black figures represent the first Black person in the city, who opened a jazz bar. The musicians are also part of it.

The riverside path is highly recommended, although there weren't many art objects left when I was there, just empty slabs.
