A detour to the hut is worth it!

Just looked up how much such a viewer costs.... hopefully it stays intact because this is a great place to take a break and do some bird watching.

We had mostly grey weather but these jetties are great places to look out over the lake. If you like birds, better bring binoculars!

Nice bridge over Bakkersloot. Look up here too because I've seen birds of prey there several times!

Lovely to take a break here. A high bench that gives a great view over the bird pond. Also this beautiful viewer to get birds a bit closer. Bring something to eat and drink and just sit here for an hour..........

I am not a real bird watcher myself, but mainly a walker who can enjoy everything you can encounter in nature. Nevertheless, a visit to this bird hut is a small party for everyone. Enormous number of birds and many different species. You don't have to know them all to enjoy it. Beautiful hut with excellent benches and viewing holes! Recommended!

The Vliet is a canal in the province of Zuid-Holland. The Vliet runs from Leiden via Voorschoten to Leidschendam-Voorburg, then it continues as the Delftsche Vliet to Delft and from there under the name Delftsche Schlie towards Rotterdam. It flows into the Maas near Rotterdam and Schliedam. The Vliet canal is part of the Rijn-Schlie canal. There is a lock in Leidschendam because of the varying water levels.
