Once an industrial wasteland, today a nature reserve with recreational value: The former quarry lake invites you to take a walk and relax on the lakeshore.

The landscape of the Arriesjön nature reserve was created by the activity of a limestone factory and the lake was once a gravel pit. Today, frogs, birds, and many strollers from Malmö feel at home here.

This forest path immerses you in a cathedral of towering, centuries-old beech trees, where the canopy filters the light, and the ground is often carpeted in copper-coloured leaves or wood anemones in spring. It is a fantastic highlight for experiencing the "grandeur" of the Swedish deciduous forest,

Käglinge Nature Area (Käglinge naturområde) is a diverse and beautiful recreational landscape located in Oxie, just south of Malmö. Transformed from an old gravel pit, this undulating area is defined by its six tranquil ponds, which are teeming with life, including rare amphibians and a wide variety of birds like kestrels and buzzards. It is a fantastic highlight for a relaxing walk through a mosaic of meadows, woodlands, and hills that feels like a miniature version of the Skåne countryside.

From here, you can enjoy stunning views of Torup Castle through the trees. This magnificent 16th-century red-brick castle is one of Sweden's best-preserved Renaissance fortresses, featuring classic round towers and a surrounding moat that creates a picture-perfect reflection.

The viewpoint on the Southwestern edge of Lake Yddingesjön, a serene spot that offers stunning, open vistas across the tranquil water towards the surrounding beech forests. This location is an excellent place for you to pause and observe the area's rich birdlife, including ospreys and sea eagles, or simply to enjoy the reflection of the ancient trees in the lake's dark surface.
