The Esplanade du Mont-Blanc, always in bloom, occupies part of the former alluvial fan of the Seyon.

Difficult to cross, this site is now the subject of projects connecting the different levels by footbridges and pedestrian links. Under the slopes of the hill, at the height of the MEN Ethnography Museum (4), the Seyon was diverted between 1839 and 1844 by a first tunnel. A second tunnel was in fact built in the bed of the Seyon, which then allowed the basin to be filled in.
