Great place for a nice little walk or hike! Plus side: there is a bus at the end of the Lake that can take you back to the start of the Lake or down to Glarus too

A very beautiful lake, although it had very little water when I visited in May 2025. However, you could walk along the water below.

Nice path, but it is w/r/w and not "just" normal yellow. Good shoes and a bit of fitness are required.

Beautiful rest area with bench and table.

From the dam you have a wonderful view over the entire Klöntalersee and the Glärnisch flank.

The ride via Schwammhöchi to Klöntalersee is highly recommended for any bike (gravel, road, MTB). It is rewarded with a fantastic view of the lake.

Starts early during the week. We leave the dam at 8am counter-clockwise. The new path above the driveway is good. Sturdy shoes required. It has big stones. At noon, when it got hot, we were on the other side in the shade. Unfortunately, there are few benches for snacking, but the kiosk at the campsite is good. Bathing suit an advantage. There is a great lawn with lake access just before the finish

This bathing lawn can only be reached on foot, but the location is unique and the water has pleasant temperatures in summer. Cleanliness is very important to the communities (mobile toilets, wastebaskets are available) and so far the visitors have also paid attention to cleanliness.
