We didn't manage to visit the castle... unfortunately. It was constantly closed. We did see people upstairs, but we don't understand how they got there.

Zahara is a nice village, but nothing more. There's not much to do (out of season, when we were there). The streets in Zahara are challenging, both for driving and walking.

Path is blocked, accessible only to staff

Very nice hike done in May. Lots of flowers along the way.

There is a large parking lot at the southern end of the reservoir, from there you can also start the hike.

The Chapel of San Juan is a hermitage dedicated to Catholic worship. It is located in the Plaza San Juan Zahara de la Sierra, in the province of Cádiz, Andalusia, Spain. Dating from the 19th century, San Juan de Letrán de Zahara is an outstanding example of Andalusian religious architecture from the second half of the 19th century.

Temple with three naves, the central part of which is higher and wider than the side naves and is separated from them by Tuscan order pilasters supporting cross vaults and a galloon dome in the transept on a curved cornice. From the outside, the main façade stands out, with a baroque façade in pink marble, the dome and the bell tower.
