The Peneda Geres National Park is only accessible by car on the edge. The rugged area has provided protection for the Garranos, as the wild horses are called, for over 10,000 years. They can be found up to 1500 meters high and we met them several times. So they don't seem to be that rare. But it is definitely a great experience.

Lindoso lies on a mountain slope above the valley of the Lima River, which narrows at this point. The town is overlooked by the castle, which was mentioned in documents as early as the 13th century. Known above all for its “Espigueiros”, granite granaries in which the village community stored their supplies.

A Hórreo or Espigueiros is a traditional storage structure for crops (e.g. corn), which can be found primarily in northern Portugal and in the Spanish regions of Asturias, Galicia, Cantabria, Navarre and in the north of the province of León. In terms of function, it corresponds to the Bavarian-Austrian grain box. The smaller hórreos were usually used by just one or two families; the longer examples were usually village community storage facilities.
