It's the real reward for all the climbing. The ramps that lead up to the monument are technically challenging. Lower the saddle, put a hard gear and push all the way to the top.

Very suggestive place, it is absolutely worth taking a short break to stop and admire the hermitage and the view below. A visit is recommended in the afternoon hours when it is illuminated by the sun.

A very beautiful but also strenuous hike that requires sturdy shoes and dry weather. Beautiful views and, when the weather is good, a great view. In November it was almost deserted up here.

The Cima del Redentore[1] (1252 m), in the Aurunci Mountains in the municipal area of Formia, is not a mountain in its own right, as it is sometimes considered, but is simply the southern shoulder of Mount Altino. Nonetheless, from the top you can observe a wide panorama of the coast of Formia and the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea – from Gaeta to Scauri, the mouth of the Garigliano, the Mount Massico, the Vesuvius, the Mount Faito, Ischia and Capri.

The structure is located inside the Parco dei Monti Aurunci, in the Acquaviva area, reachable from Formia – Maranola. The road to reach the Acquaviva Refuge is easy and allows you to arrive by car a few meters from the structure. You will find a welcoming structure on two floors, with a comfortable kitchen equipped with gas stoves, a bathroom with hot water and a comfortable dining or meeting room on the ground floor. On the upper floor there are two rooms with 6 and 4 beds respectively with a second bathroom. It is possible to book single beds, in a dormitory solution, or the entire structure in the case of groups. For information and reservations you can call 3396687913

This church or hermitage "San Michele Arcangelo" was dedicated to the Archangel Michael. The name (coming from the Hebrew language) means “Who is like God?” He is often depicted - in paintings or as a statue - with a flaming sword, and occasionally a lance. Michael is - together with Raphael and Gabriel, occasionally Uriel is also included - one of the three or four archangels who (according to human understanding) occupy the highest rank in the heavenly hierarchy of angelic beings. Their common feast day in the saints' calendar is September 29th.
