The Reeuwijkse Plassen are a long, elongated water and nature reserve near Gouda, created by medieval peat extraction. It's a popular area for walking, cycling, and especially for boating and stand-up paddleboarding. Around the lakes, you'll find beaches, nature, and charming restaurants and cafes, especially near Reeuwijk-Brug.

The Reeuwijkse Plassen consist of thirteen lakes, twelve of which were created by peat extraction in the 18th century. One lake, the Broekvelden/Vettenbroek, was only created in the 20th century by sand extraction. Today, many of the lakes are used for water recreation.

The Burgemeester Lucasselaan Bridge is a distinctive white drawbridge in Reeuwijk, located on Burgemeester Lucasselaan near the Reeuwijk Lakes. It provides an important connection for traffic and cyclists between the lakes and the village. The bridge contributes to the charming, watery appearance of the area.
