12월 11, 2025, Sierra de los Molinos Windmills
Hill of the Mills (also known as Sierra de los Molinos) in Campo de Criptana. In 1575, the Topographical Reports of Philip II already mentioned “many mills” in the area; in 1752, the Cadastre of the Marquis of Ensenada recorded 34 mills in Campo de Criptana. Currently, 10 mills are preserved, three of them (Infante, Burleta, and Sardinero) dating from the 16th century with their original machinery. The complex has been declared a Site of Cultural Interest and designated a “Historic Site.”

11월 26, 2025, Casas típicas manchegas
The typical houses of La Mancha in Las Pedroñeras and the surrounding region feature a very distinctive architecture, characterized by functionality and adaptation to the climate and agricultural life. Traditional materials: They were built with rammed earth (compacted mud) and adobe bricks mixed with straw. The roofs were made with poles, reeds, and plaster, and reinforced with green esparto grass ropes. White facades and indigo baseboards: The whitewash served to keep the houses cool and disinfect the walls, while the indigo blue on the baseboards and frames had both a functional and superstitious origin (to ward off insects and evil spirits).

8월 26, 2024, Sierra de los Molinos Windmills
The Sierra de los Molinos is the place where the famous windmills are built. It is the top of a hill where the open space ensures the wind that would move its blades in its time. Of the more than thirty windmills that once existed, ten of them are preserved, called: Sardinero located on the Cerro de la Paz and Burleta, Infanto, Cariari, Culebro, Inca Garcilaso, Lagarto, Pilón, Poyatos and Quimera located in the Sierra de los Molinos. Their existence inspired Cervantes to narrate "The Battle of Don Quixote against the Giants", in chapter VIII of "The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha", where Don Quixote mistook the windmills for giants against whom to fight.

5월 11, 2024, Molinos de Campo de Criptana
These iconic mills are symbols of Campo de Criptana and all of Castilla-La Mancha. Its blades preside over the life of the town of La Mancha from above. The mills are of the “tower” type, built in masonry and whitewashed with lime. They have a circular plan pierced with small windows, which served as a guide for the orientation of the wind. This indicated where to turn the conical cover so that its blades could take advantage of the wind as desired. Each mill has three floors: the upper one with the grinding stones and the lower ones for storage and packaging. The oldest mills, such as the Sardinero, Burleta and Infante, have been standing since the 16th century and preserve their original mechanism. There are also more modern mills, such as the Inca Garcilaso, the Cariari, the Vicente Huidobro, the Pilón, the Lagarto, the Culebro and the Poyatos, which date back to 1900. Currently, some of these mills can be visited, such as the Molino Infante, the Burleta, the Culebro (which houses the Sara Montiel Museum), the Quimera (which houses the town's Holy Week Museum) and the Poyatos Mill (current tourist information point). The others are closed to the public. I hope you enjoy exploring these iconic windmills! 😊

7월 22, 2023, Iglesia de San Blas (Villarrobledo)
The church of San Blas, from the 15th and 16th centuries, is a beautiful example of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture, which has earned it the declaration of a National Monument, a title obtained in 1977. The oldest part of the building is in the Flamboyant Gothic style, executed with great mastery. The rest was built in the purest Renaissance style and with the stamp of Vandelvira. The current temple of San Blas stands on a primitive Gothic church from the mid-15th century, at the end of this century it began to be replaced by a new factory. At the foot are remains of the primitive church, of which its western portal stands out, with a magnificent structure made in the Flamboyant Gothic style and made up of an elegant opening with a pointed arch and very slender shapes.

7월 22, 2023, Casa de los Tellez
Building declared an Asset of Cultural Interest with a monumental façade, which is the most outstanding example of Baroque in civil architecture. It is linteled and framed by two superb Corinthian columns that support a beautiful front, very projecting and topped by pinnacles. Above the distil door there is no coat of arms, but an oval stone border or medallion that centers the front and contains a Latin inscription dated 1797. This oval is finished off by a vase topknot. The Téllez House is surrounded by other buildings also declared of Cultural Interest, which make Enrique Arce Street the most monumental in Villarrobledo. At number 3 of this street we find another house with a doorway with outstanding characteristics: lintelled stone, equipped with thick columns and an upper body. In the lower part, its attached pilasters stand out. The upper part rises on a cornice and is flanked by two Doric columns that end in a small triangular pediment. On both sides of the doorway we can find two stone coats of arms and in the center a typical grill.

7월 22, 2023, Convento Santa Clara (Villarrobledo)
Convent of Santa Clara and Church of San Juan. Of the complex, the main doorway of the church stands out, made up of a beautiful and simple portico in regular ashlar stone with plinths, a split triangular front, a lintel on which the coat of arms of the donor family is collected and which appears flanked by two pinnacles. This portico is finished off by a niche that contains a stone sculpture of San Juan, owner of the temple. Inside, the church has a single Renaissance-style nave with a small transept, dome and semicircular apse occupied by an altarpiece from a later period and presided over by the image of Saint John.

The Convent, as it is known in Campo de Criptana, is a small church that was the seat of the Discalced Carmelite community and is built on what was the old hermitage of Santiago ceded by the City Council in 1528. The Carmelites were in Campo de Criptana from 1598 to 1835 when it appeared on Mendizábal's list of assets to be confiscated. The building underwent an important reform in the 18th century made possible by the local presbyter Josehp Arias Jamones. It is to these works that the building owes much of its current appearance. In 1940 a new bell tower was added on the project carried out by another Cryptanian, Enrique Alarcón.
