The Iconic Buchenegg Pass Near Zürich. The approach from the North (Zürich side) is a nice comfortable of an average of 9% with several sections having 12-14% but only for a short distance. The asphalt is in excellent condition. The South side (Reppischtal) is currently at this time of writing (08.2025) under construction. If one is making a descent on the South side, definitely stop at the construction site stop light as it is a big long. Otherwise the pavement is of a smooth asphalted surface.

From here you will have stunning views of Lake Zurich and the surrounding landscape. The trail has a mix of gentle climbs and descents, making it suitable for runners of all levels, whilst still providing a fantastic workout. As you approach the viewpoint, the panoramic views of the lake and distant mountains create a stunning backdrop, perfect for a well-deserved break during your run.

What I find particularly nice: The first "gondola" of the cable car, which by the way was put into operation in 1954, were those of the legendary national exhibition or "Landi" from 1939. When you drive up the gravel road, slightly out of breath, and the panorama at Felsenegg opens up - simply majestic! You can take a break in the restaurant.

The Albis Pass (at 791 meters) crosses the Albis ridge between Lake Zurich and Lake Türler. The pass is one of the most famous passes in the region and very popular with racing cyclists. On clear days you not only have a beautiful view over Lake Zurich, but also a fantastic view of the Alps.
