In addition to the castle, the parish church of St. John is the second important historical building in the community that can be seen from afar. It is easy to identify the building components that were built in three very different eras: the (late) Gothic three-eighth choir made of brick and fieldstone masonry, the 41-meter-high neo-Gothic brick tower with a stone base built in 1858, the facade of which was only plastered in the 1930s, and finally the large nave from 1957/58. The church received its current appearance through the construction of the new nave in 1957/58 and the two interior renovations in 1982/83 and most recently in 2004.
