St. Joseph's Chapel The chapel stands outside the village in a prominent location in the gently sloping landscape between Rangendingen and Hirrlingen, framed by two natural monuments: two large, ancient linden trees. Built according to tradition in 1732, the simple-looking chapel has always been a constant attraction for devout petitioners, as evidenced by numerous contemporary devotional objects. St. Wendelin's Chapel ⛪ The chapel was built after 1732, following a cattle plague, and consecrated in 1747 by the Bishop of Constance "in honor of St. Joseph, St. Wendelin, and St. John of Nepomuk." Therefore, it is also known in the area as St. Joseph's Chapel. On the roof is a double cross, which was said to be particularly effective against evil (plague). At regular intervals along the path from the Hochburg to the Espenloch bench, the trees are decorated with carved wooden masks. The crowning glory is the Wishing Tree. However, the inscription is barely legible.

From Rangendingen, you can hike up to the Hochburg on a wide, not-too-steep path. Alternatively, there's an off-road version that's quite steep and requires more effort. Make sure your hiking boots have good tread in wet conditions.

Now in spring, snowdrops and daffodils are blooming here. The large bench invites you to linger. We took our snack break here.

Whether from the Hochburg or the Bleicherhäusle, Rangendingen is always at your feet.
