The halved cogwheel is an impressive reminder of the Oldau hydroelectric power plant, a technical monument. It originates from an old Francis shaft turbine and vividly illustrates the former technology used to generate electricity. It is prominently located along the path in Hambühren-Oldau and also serves as a signpost to the power plant. Information boards on site and a pavilion at the power plant itself provide information about the history and operation of the plant. Anyone interested in old technology or simply looking for an exciting stop on their bike tour will find this a worthwhile destination with regional industrial charm.
