The snack bar “Zum Strandkorb” on Nordstrand is a popular destination for visitors who want to enjoy a delicious and uncomplicated meal after a day in nature. This charming snack bar is located very close to the dike and offers its guests a wonderful view of the North Sea and the wide landscape of the peninsula. A highlight of the snack bar is the relaxed atmosphere - here guests can sit back comfortably, enjoy the fresh sea breeze and take in the surroundings while enjoying a delicious snack. The menu of the snack bar “Zum Strandkorb” offers a selection of typical North German dishes that delight both locals and tourists. The fresh fish sandwiches, which are made with freshly caught fish straight from the North Sea, are particularly popular. Other classics such as currywurst, chips and homemade soups are also available. If you are a little hungry, there is also a selection of cakes and coffee specialties, which are particularly popular with cyclists and hikers who take a break here. The snack bar's location right on the dike makes it an ideal stop on a bike ride or hike along the Nordstrand coast. The comfortable outdoor seating, some in real beach chairs, invites you to relax and enjoy the fresh sea air. Children can play on the adjacent playground while the adults treat themselves to a well-deserved break.

Unfortunately, I have to share my negative experience with this campsite. First of all: There is a restaurant attached to the sanitary building, which has an open awning with chairs outside. I was also given a warm welcome on my bike tour from Sylt to the Ruhr area. As I knew that it was going to rain the next morning, I got up at 5:00 a.m. to pack up the tent while it was still dry. I was ready at just before six, but had to wait until reception opened at 8:00 a.m. I then sat down at a table under the awning and had breakfast. After 1.5 hours (around 7:30 a.m.), it was so windy, rainy and I was so cold that I took a chair from the restaurant and sat in the dishwashing room (the room's locking system was only activated at 7:30 a.m.). When reception opened, I asked, as is usual, if I could sit in the room while it was stormy and raining. The only comment I got was "This isn't a dining room and if someone comes in and wants to wash up and someone is sitting there twiddling their thumbs and waiting for it to stop raining... That's not possible." "OK, that's why I'm asking. Then I'll take the chair out again and sit under the open awning again and freeze." So I sat there for another hour and waited until it stopped raining. To be honest, I thought it was a disgrace. What a shame.

In addition to a variety of regional drinks such as Deichlimo and Pharisäer, Fairtrade coffee from Darboven and organic tea from Samova are also offered. The café is barrier-free and attracts both locals and holidaymakers who want to enjoy the cozy atmosphere and high-quality food.
