The Klostersee lake is idyllically situated on the edge of the Märkische Schweiz nature reserve and is one of the region's scenic highlights. Surrounded by forests, meadows, and reed beds, it provides a habitat for numerous bird species and is a popular destination for nature lovers. The historic Altfriedland Monastery Church, which gives the lake its name, is located directly on the shore. The spot invites you to take a quiet break – whether strolling along the shore or enjoying the view over the water.

Bockwindmühle Wilhelmsaue

You can walk the path directly along the canal to avoid the path on the road.

Half-timbered church from 1820. The Sauer organ from 1922 is no longer there. The church was restored in 1956/57. Since 1990, a support association has been looking after the church, among other things.

The mill was built in 1880 and was in operation until the 1960s. After that it was empty and in danger of falling into disrepair. After extensive repairs the mill has been able to grind again since 1995. It is the last post mill preserved in the Oderbruch and is therefore a protected technical monument. It is also sometimes used as a registry office.

From this observation tower you can have a beautiful view over the Kiezer See and the bird sanctuary. With binoculars you can watch the birds. And early risers can watch the sunrise 🌄.

Especially in the transition period it is worth it for the whole family to see the migratory birds
