The shrine opposite the entrance to the Maar parking lot was probably built after World War II. It is dedicated to the Mother of God; references to Stalingrad and requests to pray for the war dead may indicate a vow that led to its construction. The shrine is in very good condition. Beautiful, quiet volcanic crater lake that you can walk around on a nature trail. There are also several wooden walkways that take you directly to the water.

The lake is located at an altitude of 497 meters above sea level. The crater has a diameter of 300 meters and is around 30 meters deep. The lake is somewhat smaller. Its surface area is 13,000 square meters and its depth is 80 to 150 centimeters. But the crater lake is silting up from the outside in and is slowly shrinking.
