Super view with breathtaking panoramic views

Goðafoss is a lesser known waterfall compared to the famous Goðafoss near Myvatn. This Goðafoss is located in the Westfjords in northwest Iceland, near Bjarnarfjörður. From road 61 (Djupvegar), take road 643 towards Bjarnarfjörður. 1 kilometer before Bjarnarfjörður, you cross the Hallardalsá river. From here, it is a short walk (200 meters) to this beautiful waterfall. The meltwater from the Hallardalsá river falls over 30 meters in a narrow gorge. From the roadside, you can walk to the top of the gorge to see Goðafoss from above. The waterfall is easily accessible and can be viewed from different sides.

Drangsnes Swimming Pool

To pass over the watercourse, you have the choice of taking the main road or this alternative passage. This Strandir river has many meanders and is very preserved.

This beautiful road is not paved. However, it offers good quality gravel. The road is really well groomed. The views of the beaches and mountains here are spectacular.

Small and amazing camping 6km before Drangsnes. There's a fantastic hot pool and a well equipped and decorated kitchen / common area. It's more expensive than the usual campsites (2.500 isk) but totally worth it. From there, and depending on the day, you can even see whales at the bay in front of it.

There is a small open-air museum on the site with authentic turf houses and warm springs. The swimming pool is public and is fed by the hot spring. Currently open 8am-10pm Admission to the bath: adults 800 ISK (as of 08/2023). Museum is free.

Just off the Drangsnes coast is the island of Grímsey. According to legend, Grímsey was founded by one of the three troll women who were trying to separate the Westfjords from the rest of Iceland. Unable to find shelter from the sun at dawn, the trolls turned into rocks. One of them is in Drangsnes, a high rock called Kerling.
