One of Iceland's last turf churches (1858), tucked away in the Eyjafjörður Valley. Its turf-covered roof seems to blend into the landscape, recalling how Icelanders lived and sheltered in times past. Inside, the dark wood and an altar painted by Ásgrímur Jónsson convey calm and tradition. Small, humble, and unique: a living piece of Icelandic rural history.

Rauðisandur Beach is a magical red sand beach on the south coast of Iceland's Westfjords. Here, you can enjoy a stroll along the 10-kilometer stretch of picturesque coastline. The powdered scallop shells make the beach appear like the surface of another planet! Rauðisandur means "red sand" in Icelandic. While black sand beaches are one of the hallmarks of Iceland's south coast, this remote part of the Westfjords offers something completely different. The color of the sand changes depending on the weather and season. From various shades of yellow to orange, the beach never stays the same color for long.

If you want to see puffins, you have to plan your visit carefully. The best times for us were morning and evening. Even with good weather, we didn't see any during the day.

Be careful when entering the wreck. It is easy to enter, but there are sharp edges everywhere.

Several hundred thousand seabirds can put on a hell of a spectacle. Even if chaos seems to reign, there is a certain order: kittiwakes breed at the bottom, razorbills and guillemots are above them, and puffins have the best spot at the top. In the summer months, the huge breeding area resembles a skyscraper for countless seabirds, which build their nests in the striking rocks, one floor at a time.

Bjargtangar Lighthouse is Europe's westernmost structure and the only permanent building on Látrabjarg, Iceland's largest seabird cliff. With millions of birds visiting seasonally, the island is one of the best places in the country to see puffins - and the scene of some death-defying naval rescues.

Shipwreck of a whaling boat built in Norway in 1912 and in active use until the mid 1960's. It was the first steel fishing boat with a hardened hull to break the ice at sea. It has been in its current location since 1981 and is rusting away.

Beautiful red-colored beach seems to be in the Sahara desert, follow the path that starts from the church that will take you to the beach in 20 minutes, from there if there is low tide go straight on to reach the sea you will walk another 10 minutes. a place to take long walks and spot seals.
