I set up my tent right next to the common room and swimming pool. However, it was a bit noisy from the cars there. I recommend camping further back.

Brilliant road between the cliff and the sea. The road gets the latter bit by bit. In some places it is just the width of a bicycle between the edge and the vegetation. Large boulders are always lying on it, falling rocks are quite possible. Despite everything, a magnificent view and breathtakingly beautiful, especially when the lupines are in bloom.

Very nice, typical small lighthouse with a magnificent view of Bolungarvík. Located on the old road to Ísafjörður.

The former NATO Latrar Air Station ceased operations in June 2006. Today the station is part of the Icelandic air defense system and provides airspace control.

With us the road was still closed, so we hiked the last 3.5 km on the gravel road, with a very strong wind. Great prospects. Northernmost road in all of Iceland. When you come up, the radar station is on the right in the back, and on the left in the back is the Bolafjall viewpoint (so there are 2 separate highlights here). Definitely highly recommended!

Detour to "Iceland's ear 👂 to the world" and the station is still active today. The drive over the narrow gravel track through the remains of the high snow fields is mega and the view is breathtaking 👍☀️😎. Once at the top, the view cannot be put into words - unbelievable, simply unbelievably beautiful. The Westfjords are a pure natural paradise. On top there is a hiking trail for the tough. Whoever wants can also run out 😎👍
