Friendly host, and most importantly, the pub is open!!! The beer is delicious and the shutters were fresh.

A beautifully situated seating area under old trees. Direct and safe access to the Ilm River is possible—at least for cooling your feet or sipping a drink on hot days.

Legend: “The last pig of the Stadtilm people”. According to this, the Stadtilm people slaughtered the last pig in the city and celebrated a festival at which bratwursts were also fried. The besiegers, who had also reached the end of their supplies, saw the clouds of smoke, smelled the scent of the bratwursts and thought that Stadtilm would be well supplied for a long time, so they gave up the siege. The first bratwurst recipe that has been handed down comes from the first Roman cookbook by Apicius from the 1st century BC. German cookbooks from the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and Austrian cookbooks from the 19th century also recommend meat for making bratwursts. The first documented mention can be found in an entry about the expenditure of 1 groschen, in a provost's bill from the Arnstadt virgin monastery in January 1404. “I g vor darme czu brotwurstin” (1 groschen for bratwurst casings).
