The information panel explains everything you need to know about the Hahnheider Forst nature reserve. However, next time I would plan the tour slightly differently and not start at the marked spot, but at the larger parking lot a little further along the route.

A very pleasant hike along the lake. Partially separated from the lake by private property. Very friendly people here.

Along the Großensee, almost inconspicuous on the other side, a small, beautiful lake.

Well, I had actually hoped or expected that the dowel bench might have something to do with the devil, but all attempts to prove this using a Low German dictionary failed. They keep offering something to knock into the wall and screw in. The devil, the "Düvel", is supposed to be for that. So I'm at a loss... But maybe someone has a better/nicer explanation than that the dowel bench is a dowel bench... 🤷‍♂️
