The Evangelical Church of Birnbach in the Altenkirchen district of Rhineland-Palatinate is one of the oldest Romanesque churches in the Westerwald. The first documented mention dates back to 1131. (Wikipedia) Very beautiful old church, which is also beautifully situated.

The path is worth it, there is a beautiful circular hiking trail “Beautiful View” W3. On the Asberg (basalt used to be mined there) you will find a turntable, a rotating long-distance marker, where hills or places in the distance are shown. This table is really well done.

The discovery trail was designed by the children of the day-care center. The forest and its inhabitants are presented at various stations.
