An idyllic spot of peace and quiet surrounded by nature – perfect for a short break during your tour. The barbecue and relaxation area in the Stockach Forest is nestled among tall trees that provide welcome shade in summer and create a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere.

In 1912 and 1913, the Protestant St. George's Church in Massenbach was built according to plans by Martin Elsässer. It stands on the foundations of an older predecessor church, which was mentioned in 1496 and had to be demolished in 1912. The local noble Barons of Massenbach are buried here. Many old epitaphs of the Barons can also be found around the church and inside. The crypt and the patron's box of the Barons were retained in the new building. In the choir windows you can read something about the donors of these windows: "In honor of God and in memory of their ancestors, the current landowners of Massenbach, Barons Georg and Adolf, Reinhard and Georg, Karl and Christian, Bernhard von Massenbach, donated this window in 1913 after the birth of the Savior."

Emperor Rudolf II imposed the blood ban on Christoph Wilhelm von Massenbach on August 23, 1582. Since then, the Massenbach local authorities were allowed to carry out blood justice. This meant that not only punishments with the cane and gallows were possible, but also mutilation. The shrine found here bears witness to this right. According to legend, a son raised his hand against his father at this spot. As punishment, his hand was chopped off.

The flood retention basin from 2016 is essential for flood protection and is becoming increasingly important given the weather conditions.

Nice place to rest and barbecue. Unfortunately not as well maintained as other rest areas.
