Great town hall/castle with charming bridges and beautifully maintained castle square!

Between the castle and the church lies a beautiful park

The 16th-century Renaissance palace is now Hardheim's town hall. Formerly surrounded by a moat, the castle moat now houses a small alpine garden.

A very impressive building. The Catholic Church of St. Alban is located very close to the Schlossplatz. With the words: "We are building the Erftal Cathedral," Pastor Stephan was able to motivate the locals to build the church in 1891. Men, women, and young people gathered at the construction site every day to volunteer for forced labor.

The building is one of the historic buildings in the heart of Hardheim. The stables have been converted several times. The Junkers of Hardheim likely used this structure as temporary accommodation during the demolition and reconstruction of the "upper castle." In 1856, the first floor was converted and furnished as a hospital. After the new hospital was built around 1900, the trade school found a new home. Further renovations established a sewing school with nurses' apartments. At the end of June 1993, the nurses were relocated to Gengenbach. From September 1998 to July 2017, the land registry office was housed in the rooms on the upper floor. Today, the building houses, among other things, the archive and the wedding room of the municipal administration.
