The Irmelshausen swimming lake and campsite is located directly on the green belt at the foot of the Gleichberge mountains. The area, originally built in the mid-1970s, was completely renovated in 2017/18. The service area was sustainably upgraded through renovations and new construction, and the restrooms were completely renovated and are now barrier-free. The family-friendly swimming and fishing lake is surrounded by a spacious lawn. The northwestern area features a sandy beach with a jetty, as well as a children's playground with a water feature, table tennis tables, and a beach volleyball court. The idea of creating a Resurrection Trail around the parish of Höchheim arose at Easter 2010. For many years, Protestant Christians from the towns of Irmelshausen, Höchheim, and Rothausen have gathered there on Easter morning to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus in a sunrise service. This tradition inspired Pastor Beate Hofmann-Landgraf and the church council to create a circular hiking trail around the three parishes, focusing on the resurrection of Christ. Funding for the project was secured through the then Regional Bishop Christian Schmidt and his "Gerne evangelisch" project, so the trail was implemented relatively quickly in cooperation with the House of Church Services in Hanover and inaugurated on Easter Monday 2012. Truly defensive, unfortunately only a view from the outside is possible. But a short stop is definitely worth it.

Bathing lake with campsite and sandy beach. There is also a restaurant with shaded areas and a direct view of the lake. The color of the water got me thinking. It was extremely green, I don't know anything about the water quality. I don't know if I would have swum there😁

The moated castle Irmelshausen is a castle in the Höchheimer district Irmelshausen in the district of Rhön-Grabfeld. It is in the Lower Franconian part of the grave field. The building has been in the possession of the von Bibra family since 1376, and half of it has been owned by the Stauffenberg family since 1984. Here was an evangelical bastion of the Christian West. It doesn't look good anymore! Hope dies last. The church is always open and inviting.

If, like me, you travel counter-clockwise around the lake, you can be afraid for your sleep. Everyone can come here with everything that would make the Ballermann pale on Mallorca 😄. But on the actual campsite it is quieter (except for the storm), with 2 cool sheriffs and a casual beer garden.
