The Ostheim Peace Cross Trail invites you to take a contemplative walk and find peaceful food for thought. The route is around nine kilometers long. Shorter sections can also be walked. The route through the town in the Streutal valley is flat and almost barrier-free.

There is a memorial cross at the Lutherlinden tree to commemorate the great social unrest at the beginning of the 16th century. It culminated in destruction, murder and manslaughter and cruel punishments for the "guilty". The German Peasants' War claimed around 100,000 lives and ended in further misery for the peasants and day laborers. Many castles in the area were destroyed and had to be rebuilt. Only a year later the Turkish War began. And there, too, many young lives died a "heroic death" over the next 21 years. It was not until 1548, after Martin Luther's death, that things changed. The Reformation was introduced in Ostheim by the new Lords of Mansfeld. It was not until the Peace of Augsburg in 1555 that peace was restored for a few years in Ostheim and in the "Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation". The first Lutheran pastor was Paul Schmidt from Römhild from January 7, 1557.
