The Knights' Cellar in Thundorf (built in 1528) still bears witness to the history of the former knights' school, where young noblemen from near and far were instructed in religion and the fine arts. The Knights' Cellar opens its doors annually during the Thundorf village Christmas market. The romantic atmosphere contributes to a special experience for visitors.

At the edge of the forest stands a bench made of pallets and an image of Mary. From here there is a great view towards Thundorf and Stadtlauringen – the Schweinfurt Uplands.

The parish, one of the smallest in the district, can look back on a long history. Lutheran sermons were preached in Thundorf at least as early as 1520. This continued unhindered until 1676, when the rule of Thundorf changed from the Protestant von Schaumberg family to the Catholic von Rosenbach family. The subsequent persecution significantly reduced the size of the congregation, and even today, in times of good ecumenical cooperation, it numbers only about 60 members. The church tower was built in the 15th century. It had a bell tower until 1870. The nave was built south of the tower. There are differing accounts regarding the year of the nave's construction. Some sources cite 1699, while others suggest 1727. The church interior was remodeled in 1848. From 1680 to 1847, the Protestant parsonage was located in the neighboring former knights' school. The church's interior underwent restoration in 1975. In 2001, the pulpit and ambo were restored. During further renovations in 2005 and 2006, the pulpit was repainted and the interior walls were redesigned. At the same time, the church exterior was painted white.

The parish church of St. John the Baptist is the visible spiritual center of the town of Stadtlauringen. Anyone who enters the church is initially greeted by the sober common room in the style of the 70s. The high altar shows the church patron John, more precisely the baptism of Jesus by John in the Jordan. The Holy Spirit floats down from God the Father (in the picture above) to Jesus and testifies that he is the Son of God. The Lady Chapel is used as a weekday chapel and for personal prayer. The magnificent Rococo Madonna in the halo comes from a Würzburg school (1708-1756).

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Bartholomew in Markt Maßbach, Lower Franconia, is dedicated to the Apostle Bartholomew. The St. Bartholomew Church emerged from a medieval hall building with a choir tower and took its current form in 1582 through a renovation and a tower increase. The mural in the sacristy dates from the 15th century and shows the Last Judgment. The sacristy door in the choir is framed by herm pilasters. There is a painting of the crucifixion on the altar. Figures of the four evangelists are attached to the pulpit. Above the choir arch you can see a crucifixion group and the Saxon coat of arms. A gallery running around three sides is built into the nave. The organ is on the west side of the gallery. The church houses tombs of the von Maßbach family from the 15th and 16th centuries. The Maßbach Jewish Cemetery in Maßbach was built in 1902. The Maßbach Jewish community had buried their dead in the Kleinbardorf Jewish cemetery before 1903. The dead from the Poppenlauer Jewish community were now buried in the new Jewish cemetery in Massbach. Today there are still 41 tombstones (mazewot) preserved in the 3.87-acre cemetery. The first burial took place on January 16, 1903 (Samuel Eberhardt) and the last on June 6, 1942 (Jette Grünebaum).
