This is how Rannungen's water supply works: Two municipal wells south of the town alternately pump water into the Rannungen local network. The water that is not used along the route flows as overflow into the water tower, whose tank holds 150 m3. As soon as the water level has fallen to a safety reserve of around 50 m3 due to consumption, one of the pumps starts up again until the tower is filled again. The height difference from the pump to the tower is around 100 m. In Rannungen, no waterworks is necessary for cleaning due to the excellent natural water quality, which is regularly checked according to strict requirements. (Rannungen municipality)

Due to the patronage of Boniface and the close relationship of the place to the Mattonen, it can be assumed that monks from Fulda built a first church in Rannungen soon after the death of the saint. There is written evidence of Rannungen as a parish seat from 1187. St. Boniface (recorded in 2023) The current parish church of St. Boniface dates back to a new building by Julius Echter in 1588/1589. The tower, which stands on medieval foundations, has been preserved from this construction phase. However, its original, typically Franconian pointed dome (so-called Julius Echter Tower) was replaced by the current French dome after the "Bäcker fire" (1726). Prince-Bishop Johann Philipp von Greiffenclau had the nave rebuilt in 1716 according to plans by Joseph Greissing. The church was expanded to its current size in 1913 by adding a transverse building with two window axes. The church has baroque furnishings, in particular the painting in the high altar with the resurrection of Lazarus (17th century) and an altarpiece with the martyrdom of St. Lawrence, on loan from St. Kilian's Cathedral in Würzburg. The Romanesque baptismal font and the Renaissance pulpit with wood inlays appear to have been taken from the previous building. A cycle of paintings from 1913/14 depicting the legend of Boniface is set into the stucco ceiling; these paintings in the historicist style were created by Hans Bayerlein (Bamberg) and are strongly based on the frescoes that were destroyed in the war and that Professor Heinrich von Hess had created for the Munich Abbey of St. Boniface. (Wikipedia) In the outside area of the church there is a Mount of Olives group, baroque, sandstone, around 1780

After the death of three of his seven children from diphtheria, the Rannunger citizen Johann Justin Borst vowed in November 1867 to erect a statue of the Virgin Mary in an open field if he and his other children were spared. When this happened, the Würzburg sculptor Schuler was commissioned to create an almost life-size statue of the Rosary Madonna out of sandstone: the Queen of Heaven, crowned with a wreath of stars, stands on the globe above a base with a Latin inscription. This free-standing figure was erected in a field on what would later become the district road to Schweinfurt. In 1878, Borst, together with his wife Georg and Apollonia Erhard, had a chapel built in the neo-Gothic style out of hewn sandstone and brickwork, which is located in a small park. The architect of the building was the architect Andreas Lohrey from Schonungen, who built many historicist buildings in Lower Franconia and was related to the Borst family. The Madonna statue was placed in this chapel. In 1955, the chapel was transferred from the Borst family to the municipality. The chapel, which has been a listed building since 1978, was renovated in 1979 and from mid-2002 to May 2003. (Wikipedia)
