Near the hamlet of Woeste near Kierspe there is a beautiful rest area with a forest sofa (wooden lounger).

The term "Thing" refers to the Free Count, who convened the proceedings, and the Free Judges, who passed judgment. They belonged to a secret society of lay judges spread throughout the empire.

Directly opposite the Thingslinde, the Kaiser Wilhelm Linden tree was planted in honor of the then emperor and the founding of the empire. Several stones have been placed next to the Kaiser Wilhelm Linden tree for a rest.

Next to the Thingslinde a stone was erected in which the following was carved: "Tingslinde Here stood the chair of the holy Feme"

The large linden tree in the north of the town of Kierspe is a reminder of the era of the Femegerichte (courts of oath) in the Middle Ages. It is considered a natural monument and is estimated to be approximately 300 to 400 years old. Eberhard Fricke, one of the best experts on Westphalian Feme jurisdiction, describes the Thingslinde (Thingslinde) as a "legal monument that is unique far and wide." Many a trial was likely conducted under this tree in the Middle Ages. At that time, it stood at the intersection of an important medieval country road (Frankfurt to Amsterdam) and, due to its location on the road on a hill outside the village, was visible from afar.
