We recommend. There are many rumours, most of which are not true. The water is natural water from mountain and forest springs and no matter how warm it is, the water is very cold. This is for everyone who really wants a real cool down. Here's the advantage, you don't have chlorine and other things in it. The water in general, as well as in town, is very soft and therefore noticeably good for the skin. The bathroom has been completely renovated. At that time, the entrance was still on the other side, adjacent to the restaurant and tennis court. We spent a few hours here back then and often went ice swimming in the winter... Of course, accompanied by the lifeguard, at least most of the time. (don't imitate!) for us the training was and since we knew him it wasn't an issue for us.

We recommend. I still like to be here today, there are beautiful roads with little traffic and a chance to rest "on the tree" next to the road. Back then, from the IGS, we always went jogging in physical education classes there. To the tree and back. Again and again. The view is nice, but offers only a few shaded areas in summer. Nevertheless, it's worth it. The development area looks very modern and, as far as I know, was always heavily populated by Americans. Nice to look at, always cool people even if they were always changed by the military.

Real nice house. Back around 1995-1997 as far as I can remember friends of my family lived in there and we used to visit there often. Inside you could still see a lot of the synagogue, unfortunately I didn't understand anything about it as a child. I don't know what it looks like today either. However, it is still nice to look at from the outside.

Very nice house with great history. Later it became a Miele appliance store, then something with kitchen utensils, which was also really nice. Now I don't know what's in it anymore.

Main house of the Lazarus Straus family (Hauptstraße 105) "Lazarus Straus (1809 - 1898) and his wife Sara Straus had 3 sons and 1 daughter. They emigrated to America with their 3 sons in 1854. All sons made a truly American career in America: - Isidor Straus (1845 - 1912) was a co-owner of the Macy's department store. He died with his wife Ida in 1912 when the Titanic sank. - Nathan Straus (1848 - 1931) was co-owner of Macy's department store and President of the New York Health Commission. In 1927 he founded a large health center in Israel. - Oscar Salomon Straus (1850 - 1926), was an American diplomat, serving as Secretary of Commerce and Labor (1906 - 1909). He was the first Jewish member of an American cabinet [under Theodore Roosevelt]. A monument in Washington commemorates his services to his second fatherland. 1874: The Straus family sold their property to the grandfather of Konrad Rettig (master baker). Konrad Rettig ran a bakery with a small café. Also here was the first post office in Otterberg, which was regularly approached by the stagecoach.
