The roots of the Martin Luther Church in Giften date back to the early 17th century, when a small chapel was first mentioned. It was renovated several times over the years and adorned with a distinctive tower in the 19th century. After various parish connections—including with Barnten and later with St. Paul's Church in Sarstedt—the building was renamed Martin Luther Church in 2003.

The Dammackerhof was built around 1901 by factory owner Fritz Voss. Today, the farm is a private equestrian center.

In earlier times, people crossed the Leine at this spot via a ford. Today, nothing of this remains, but the beautiful roofed hut invites you to take a break.

A wonderful place for a rest in the Leine meadows. From the bench, you have a breathtaking view of the landscape.

The path takes you between the Schliekum quarry lake and the Schliekum Pond. Wonderful!

Sarstedt Sailing Club

From 1952 to 1995, gravel was mined on a large scale in the glacial valley of the Leine. At a lake west of the Giften bathing lake, there was still shooting until recently. At the moment the dismantling seems to have been stopped there too.

The small covered observation tower is sadly no longer there—it's been torn down and thrown away. But the observation hill remains. The missing two meters of height is easily overlooked, though. 🤗😉
