The Hochfilzer Hut is run by the Mannersdorf Nature Friends, is open on Sundays in the summer, and offers seating for approximately 50 people. There are a few very nice trails of varying difficulty (from grade 1 to grade 4 (to Korbaj)) leading to the hut, and the area is also very mountain bike-friendly. The construction of additional mountain bike trails is planned for 2025.

This time the hut was open and we were able to stop for a snack. We were thrilled with the homemade pastries and enjoyed them ☕️🍰

“Each of these crosses can tell its own story and what prompted people to erect “their” cross at this point. (...) These wayside crosses were erected as visible signs and attract the attention of many people. The cross is a symbol of life. It stands as a sign of our Christian hope and wants to direct our gaze to Jesus Christ, who has overcome death (...). The cross is part of our life as it was in the life of Jesus. So I wish that many people … visit the crosses, whether as places of stillness and breathing space before God, whether as places for community gatherings, prayer and praise to God.” (Text source: Dean Rainald M. Ollig in: "Crossroads... small sacred monuments as a sign of popular piety")

The Mannersdorf plant is not only Austria's largest cement plant, it is also one of the oldest cement plants in our country. Despite its proud 127-year history, the plant in the Leithagebirge is one of the absolute model companies in the industry with regard to ecological production.

On the north-east slope of the Scheiterberg there is a ski meadow with a height difference of 75 m.

The cross was erected in 2000 by the Mannersdorfer Naturfreunde. The blessing took place on April 8th, 2000 by pastor Reinhold Schleider. Since the pastor had major health problems with his legs at this time and could not climb to the top of the Scheiterberg, he blessed the cross from the lower part of the ski meadow.

5월 26, 2021, Lagerfriedhof War Cemetery
As a memorial to the endless number of war dead, such places - usually referred to as "war cemeteries" or "soldiers' cemeteries" - are still very important today. "Now, Lord, let your servant go in peace, as you said." However, the many people buried here were by no means divorced in peace, but became victims of the war and an inhuman tyranny. The most important and at the same time everlasting function of the soldiers' or honorary cemeteries or war cemeteries is therefore to keep the memory of this suffering alive and – every generation anew (!) – to remind people of the lasting preservation of peace.
