The "Moorwanderweg" has a length of approx. 4 km and starts in the village of Ibm. It leads from the chapel past the INFO house and litter meadows to the Mooskreuz. After a short stretch of forest you hike on the 'moraine hill' over a gently rising one Meadow path to the Seeleiten viewpoint, which offers a magnificent panoramic view of the Seeleitensee, the Moos and the Salzburg & Bavarian Limestone Alps. After a short distance you enter the moor with its three moor types and the many rare and protected plants, but also the breeding area of the curlew and the habitat of many other rare birds and animals.

The Seeleitensee was created by the erosion of the Salzach Glacier in the last Ice Age. It is surrounded by a moor landscape, partly also by areas that are used extensively for agriculture. [1]

The Seeleitensee, also Seeleithensee or Leitensee, is a moor lake in the Innviertel in Upper Austria. Together with the adjoining litter meadows, it is designated as a nature reserve.

With an age of around 12,000 years and an area of 2,000 hectares, this landscape is an ideal retreat for animals and plants. The peat stores in Bürmoos and Weidmoos have been almost completely dismantled. In the Weidmoos, a LIFE nature conservation project created around 25 hectares of water through damming. A "bird paradise" has developed over the past few years.

The largest contiguous moor complex in Austria is located on the Upper Austrian - Salzburg border at approx. 426 m above sea level and consists of the Bürmoos, Weidmoos and Ibmer Moos.

Very nice circular hike through the Ibmer Moor on wooden walkways. There are options for a short or long circular hike. The long circular hiking trail leads around the Seeleitensee. There is a signposted car park (N48.0536579, E12.9545589) with a public toilet.
