12세기 초 스티리아 변경백의 풍부하게 설립된 사유 교회로 설립되었습니다. 1122년에는 성 비투스에게 봉헌된 예배당이 문서로 기록되었습니다. 1162년에는 교회가 교구 교회로 승격되면서 괴트바이크 수도원으로 이전되었습니다. 1330년에는 호헨베르크의 보겔하버 소유주들에 의해 교구 사제관이 설립되었습니다. 1473년에는 아마도 본당 건물을 위해 건축가 한스 크샤스퍼가 언급되었습니다. 1685/1687년에는 후기 고딕 양식의 교회 탑이 증축되었습니다. 1763/1771년에는 보수 공사가 있었습니다. 1830년에는 묘지가 폐쇄되었습니다. 1891년에는 교회 내부가 네오 고딕 양식으로 재단장되었습니다. 1968/1970년에는 내부 및 외부 복원이 이루어졌으며, 이때 네오 고딕 양식의 장비 대부분이 제거되었습니다. 1970년에는 중세 교구 사제관이 철거되고 새로운 건물로 대체되었습니다.

The Lilienfeld Local History Museum is housed in a historic building that is itself part of the town's history and reflects the traditional character of the region. The old structure, with its solid walls and simple rooms, lends the museum an authentic atmosphere and provides a fitting setting for the exhibition. The museum displays exhibits on the history of Lilienfeld, on rural and craft life, and on the everyday lives of previous generations. By operating as a museum, the building is not only preserved but also used as an important place for the preservation and dissemination of local cultural heritage.

The parish church of St. Veit an der Gölsen is located west of the market town of St. Veit an der Gölsen in the Lilienfeld district of Lower Austria. The Roman Catholic parish church, dedicated to St. Veit and incorporated into Göttweig Abbey, belongs to the deanery of Lilienfeld in the Diocese of St. Pölten.
