The parish church of Nöggenschwiel is a small gem, both inside and out. The exterior, viewed from the south, is captivating, featuring a beautiful ensemble of buildings surrounded by a meadow, fruit trees, and roses. Its origins trace back to the Abbey of St. Gall. This remarkable parish church was built in the Baroque style under Abbot Franz II of St. Blasien and consecrated in 1747, after the old church was destroyed by fire in 1744. The church, dedicated to St. Stephen, surprises visitors with its beauty, which is hardly expected in such a small village. The church dates from the late Baroque period. Built on a simple plan, the exterior is unadorned; only a red window frame contrasts with the white of the building.
