Thanks to the "Geniesserpfad Turmsteige" hike, I finally managed to get to Hochkopf, and here a beautiful tower from ancient times awaited me with a fantastic panoramic view over the Black Forest to the Swiss Alps. Below the tower there is a large picnic area for hikers and bikers.

The Waldhotel Auerhahn is located at 1,080 meters above sea level on the Weißenbach saddle. Some well-known hiking routes meet here, e.g. the two gourmet paths - "Lebkuchenweg" or "Turmsteige", but also the Westweg leads past here. It is not only a meeting point for hikers, but also motorcyclists, cyclists and mountain bikers can be found here.

Willow beeches are more common, especially in the Swabian Jura. They arise from the fact that several young plants grow up in close proximity behind thorny bushes and are thus protected from being bitten by grazing cattle as a "horst" and later form a common trunk. In contrast to the red beeches in the forest, which can reach heights of up to 40 metres, willow beeches generally have a very broad crown that develops very early on from the massive, deeply furrowed trunk.

since we walked from herrnschwandt to Schönau, we would have to climb steeply at the end of the path. But it's worth it.

The food is fresh and good, the service is sometimes very strange, credit card payments are said to only be accepted if the guest accepts the commission - this is definitely not allowed! NO GO!

The Hochkopfturm is at a height of 1267 m. The tower can also be climbed. From the top you have a great 360° view. The Swiss Alps are particularly impressive! There is also a large rest area here with lots of benches and tables.
