At Gasmert, you can walk along a wonderful path through the fields with a huge panorama over Herscheid, Nieder- and Oberholte.

From the Gasmert hiking car park, you have to walk up this gravel path to the Auf der Gasmert nature reserve. Once you reach the top, you will be rewarded with a magnificent heath and a wonderful panoramic view in almost every direction.

From here, you have a good view of the bridge construction site. The bridge has now been closed and the concrete work has been completed. However, the bridge is not scheduled to be opened until February 2026 (as of October 2025), although the entire region had hoped it would be opened before Christmas 2025.

From this point, the view to the north is primarily as far as Altena and Iserlohn. However, if you turn around, you can see as far as the Nordhelle in the south. A fantastic panoramic view!

Around Oberhunscheid, there are plenty of pastures and meadows belonging to local farmers. In particular, there are quite a few Highland cattle here.
