At first glance, the church's Baroque interior appears rather somber, especially when compared to the bright, cheerful atmosphere of, for example, Bavarian Baroque churches. However, the richly detailed stained-glass windows are truly magnificent and colorful. The altarpiece depicting the Assumption of Mary is a copy of the painting by the Italian artist Reni; the original is housed in the Pinakothek in Munich.

The Philosopher's Walk was created in 1908 by the town of Hachenburg in honor of Rudolf Christoph Eucken, who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in the same year.

The Landwehr is the site of the former border between the town of Hachenburg and the County of Sayn. Two artificially raised earthworks were planted with scrub, making it almost impossible for outsiders to penetrate.
